1 John 3:16

By this we know love , that he laid down his life for us , and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers .

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.

Hereby perceive we the love of God , because he laid down his life for us : and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
