Hebrews 11:13

These all died in faith , not having received the things promised , but having seen them and greeted them from afar , and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth .

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth.

These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them , and embraced them , and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
