Isaiah 35

¹ The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad ; the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus ;

² it shall blossom abundantly and rejoice with joy and singing . The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon . They shall see the glory of the Lord , the majesty of our God .

³ Strengthen the weak hands , and make firm the feeble knees .

⁴ Say to those who have an anxious heart , Be strong ; fear not ! Behold , your God will come with vengeance , with the recompense of God . He will come and save you.

⁵ Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened , and the ears of the deaf unstopped ;

⁶ then shall the lame man leap like a deer , and the tongue of the mute sing for joy . For waters break forth in the wilderness , and streams in the desert ;

⁷ the burning sand shall become a pool , and the thirsty ground springs of water ; in the haunt of jackals , where they lie down , the grass shall become reeds and rushes .

⁸ And a highway shall be there , and it shall be called the Way of Holiness ; the unclean shall not pass over it. It shall belong to those who walk on the way ; even if they are fools , they shall not go astray .

⁹ No lion shall be there , nor shall any ravenous beast come up on it; they shall not be found there , but the redeemed shall walk there.

¹⁰ And the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing ; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads ; they shall obtain gladness and joy , and sorrow and sighing shall flee away .

¹ The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus,

² it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the splendor of Carmel and Sharon; they will see the glory of the Lord, the splendor of our God.

³ Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way;

⁴ say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.”

⁵ Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped.

⁶ Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert.

⁷ The burning sand will become a pool, the thirsty ground bubbling springs. In the haunts where jackals once lay, grass and reeds and papyrus will grow.

⁸ And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it.

⁹ No lion will be there, nor any ravenous beast; they will not be found there. But only the redeemed will walk there,

¹⁰ and those the Lord has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

¹ The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.

² It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing : the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the excellency of our God.

³ Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.

⁴ Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.

⁵ Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

⁶ Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing : for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

⁷ And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water : in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

⁸ And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein .

⁹ No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there :

¹⁰ And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads : they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Isaiah 34 Books Isaiah 36
