Psalms 149

¹ Sing to the Lord a New Song Praise the Lord ! Sing to the Lord a new song , his praise in the assembly of the godly !

² Let Israel be glad in his Maker ; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King !

³ Let them praise his name with dancing , making melody to him with tambourine and lyre !

⁴ For the Lord takes pleasure in his people ; he adorns the humble with salvation .

⁵ Let the godly exult in glory ; let them sing for joy on their beds .

⁶ Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands ,

⁷ to execute vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples ,

⁸ to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron ,

⁹ to execute on them the judgment written ! This is honor for all his godly ones . Praise the Lord !

⁴ For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.

⁵ Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds.

⁶ May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands,

⁷ to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples,

⁸ to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron,

⁹ to carry out the sentence written against them— this is the glory of all his faithful people. Praise the Lord.

² Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.

³ Let them praise his name in the dance : let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.

⁴ For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people : he will beautify the meek with salvation.

⁵ Let the saints be joyful in glory : let them sing aloud upon their beds.

⁶ Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand;

⁷ To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;

⁸ To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;
